African Union Criticizes ICC Prosecutor
The Declaration on the International Criminal Court adopted late last month at the summit of the African Union criticizes the Prosecutor for what it calls 'egregiously unacceptable, rude and condescending statements on the case of President Omar Hassan El-Bashir of The Sudan and other situations in
Africa'. I have reported some of these statements in previous postings on the blog, describing them as inappropriate. My concern was always with how they would be interpreted in Africa by Africans. The final statement is available here.
